Cows on the Moor

Hi All....  I think it's lovely to see the horses and cattle on the Moor and wouldn't want that to change, but I fear a terrible accident is waiting to happen.  I grew up with horses and farm life was second nature to me.  Although horses are friendly animals, cattle are a very different bread, especially when they are young.  At the moment there are lots of new calves and I am concerned that not all members of the public are aware of dangers.  For example, walking a dog near cows with calves…See More

December litter pick - Saturday 4th at 10am

Boxmoor's next monthly litter pick is on Saturday 4th December at 10am. Meet outside 156 St John's Road, where you can collect bags, tabards and litter picking sticks. All you'll need is your own gloves.

You can collect as little or as much as you like. This is our third monthly litter pick in Boxmoor and we've collected 13 and 14 big bags full in the first two.

Let's get our 'village' tidy for Christmas!

St Francis Hospice - Strictly Learn Dancing Competition in Boxmoor at Sportspace on 27th November

For the last four weeks my wife Shirley and I have been training 20 couples to dance a Tango and a Cha cha at Hemel Sportspace.

We are doing this to raise money for St Francis Hospice in Berkhamsted. The couples will compete on 27th November in front of an audience of up to 800 people. 'Not much to write home about', I hear you say. Well I think it is very exciting beause these couples are new to dance of this type so it will be more than a little bit scary for them.

The…

Trying to fight the flab

I've been trying to eat healthily, lots of veggies, steamed food and watching my intake of fats. Also been using Xylitol and Agave nectar for sweetening, although the health benefits of Xylitol in particular far exceed just sweetening. Now my mail order supplier has imposed a minimum order level of £250 and I'm hoping to start a buying group.

If you are aware of the benefits of Xylitol or would like to learn, please contact me. Likewise if you'd like to be part of the next order. They…
